Q  HOW DO I PROGRAM MY 6600 RF REMOTE CONTROL?

A   Click on the following PDF:

*You must complete the last paragraph for the Fan/Remote to sync up.

Programming does not resolve “rf” interference.

Q  WHY DO DOMES (lids) STICK TO THE RUBBER SEAL?

A   CAUSE: Oil or oil derivatives and Polycarbonate are not compatible, they're actually enemies. Any oil or grease

on a Polycarbonate dome will cause cracks in a very short time yet Polycarbonate in the proper thickness is literally "bullet proof". Structurally, Polycarbonate remains the strongest exterior polymer available (hence, Fan-Tastic Vent lifetime warranted dome / flat lids) but, unfortunately, it's resistance to many chemicals and oil is not good.

EPDM rubber is the highest quality weather seal on the market and has been for many years. From our experience, it does not break down under severe Ultra Violet ray (UV) conditions and has remained soft and pliable for over 20 years. EPDM rubber's formula or recipe must include a lubricant for the extruding process. That lubricant is a small amount of "oil"! The amount of oil in the recipe is very slight but when subjected to heat and intense UV the rubber seal "bleeds" (a faint trace of oil develops on the surface of the seal).

The combination of Polycarbonate dome, compressed bleeding seal and sun, generates a chemical reaction resulting in a "stuck dome / lid". Historically, only a small percentage of seals extruded in the large lots we purchase bleed enough to cause this problem.

Our treating of all seals prior to packaging for 18 years with AK-1000, a silicone based protectant, eliminated sticking but occasionally required additional treatment, generally, prior to storing coach. A few years ago seals  began sticking and re-treatment with AK-1000 didn’t correct the problem. Upon investigation, some component suppliers actually stated "EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) constraints in conjunction with dramatic cost increases and availability of essential chemicals lead to changes in the components they supplied without advanced notification”. Since then, we have used a release agent (rubber manufacturer recommended), redesigned and re-tooled the seal profile, changed the adhesive we apply inside seal to hold it to the main base and finally, changed rubber suppliers!

FIX: At your local dealer you can purchase 303 conditioner.  Wipe the seals with the conditioner or you can purchase new seals at your local dealership.

Q  WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

Q  DO YOU RECOMMEND VENT COVERS?

A   Fan-Tastic Vent recommends using only UltraBreeze Vent Covers for your Fan-Tastic Vent. UltraBreeze Vent

Covers allow up to 100% airflow. The use of other vent covers greatly restricts airflow (by up to 75%), causing accumulation of dust and increased sound levels.

Q  WHERE DO I FIND A MODEL NUMBER?

A   The model number along with the month and year the fan was manufactured is located on the top outside of

the fan base in the corner. This is best seen from the top of the coach.

Q  MY GARNISH (interior trim piece) DOES NOT FIT. HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE I NEED?

A   Measure from the screen assembly; face of the fan down to the ceiling then add 1/2 of an inch for protrusion.

Q  CAN I DRIVE WITH MY VENT OPEN?

A   YES! It is best to have the dome completely open. There is a lifetime warranty on the dome.

Q  DO YOU HAVE DIFFERENT COLOR DOMES?

A   Smoke domes are most common.

The following are available upon request:

Smoke: Filters UV Rays and lets some light in.

White: Does not let light in.

Black: Does not let light in.

   Clear: Lets all light in.

Q  MY FRIEND HAS A FAN WITH MORE OPTIONS. HOW CAN I GET ONE?

A   Cleaning your Fantastic Vent is easy and can be done from the inside of the coach.

Q  How do I clean my Fantastic Vent?

A   It is not necessary to purchase an entire new vent. The convenience of a Fan-Tastic Vent is that no fan has to

be completely removed. Changing the interior screen assembly can customize any model fan. Call technical support to determine the options available to you at 1-800-521-0298.

Q  My Fantastic Vent will open but the fan blade will not turn what is wrong?

A   The motor ground is made or broken using a plunger switch, located on   the hinge side of the dome

accessible from the top of the coach, this      plunger style switch can become dirty, sticky, or corroded from the      elements and may need to be cleaned with some emery cloth or replaced.      Most of the time when a fan will not operate this switch is the culprit. The     nut is a 7/16” size if this needs to be removed.

Q  The dome seal on my Fantastic Vent is sticky what do I use to clean it?

A   Clean the seal with a clean soft cloth and some denatured or rubbing alcohol. Once the seal and the dome has

been cleaned and any sticky    residue removed apply a silicone based lubricant.

Q  I want to replace to my existing fan with a Fantastic Vent will it fit?

A   Most fans have the same rough opening size which is 14”X14” you can measure to be sure that you have this

size and easily install a FTV in place of your existing fan. Call technical support with any questions about        features of our many models 800-521-0298.

Q  My Fantastic Vent fan opens and closes by itself what is wrong?

A   If your fan is equipped with a rain sensor feature the rain sensor is likely   dirty and needs to be cleaned with a

soft cloth and rubbing alcohol. This should alleviate the issue, if not contact tech support.
